Pollokshields is a planned garden suburb

We all enjoy walking by front gardens, which are very much part of the Pollokshields planned garden design, both the villas and the tenements. Of course, it can be a struggle to maintain front gardens in shared tenement blocks. This is an opportunity to let us revive your tenement front garden for you, so you have an easy to maintain front garden to share.

We are offering five front garden makeovers for East Pollokshields tenements. All you have to do if fill out the application form and submit by 5pm on Wednesday 10 June 2020.

The front garden revive involves a hard prune and clear out of weeds. We will lay a weed suppressing membrane if possible and then plant up with some colourful perennials such as hydrangea and dogwood, which will bring colour in the spring, summer and autumn. Plus we will add some spring flowering bulbs, such as daffodil and crocus, to bring some colour early in the year.

This project is funded by the Glasgow Times Streets Ahead programme. There will be a judging panel of 3 who will score the applications.

The 10 runners up will receive a pot of 4 or 5 bedding plants in June to enjoy all summer. The front garden revives will be scheduled for September.

We are confident this work can be completed within Government guidelines for social distancing.

We don't work on Ready Steady Grow all year round because we have other projects to develop. If you don't hear from us immediately, don't give up, simply try again.
